India vs Australia: 3rd T20I called off due to wet outfield, series drawn 1-1

Hyderabad has been receiving heavy rains for more than a week now and the Met office had predicted rain today as well.

  • Virat Kohli plays a shot on the wet pitch during a practice session. The city had been receiving plenty rainfall almost on a daily basis for about a week, throwing normal life out of gear. Arrangements were been made at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, the venue of the match, to ensure that the match is held without any problem, but alas, the series has now been levelled 1-1.

  • The Indian team players switching to another sport on the wet outfield. According to the umpires, the outfield was so sodden that there was no real chance of play despite the fact that it did not rain for quite a while.  After the match was delayed, the ground at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium was inspected three times but despite all efforts from the ground staff play was not possible.

  • India, who dominated Australia in the preceding ODI series, won the opening T20I comfortably before getting a rude shock in the second game. Despite the recent success India have had over Australia, Virat Kohli has maintained that the team from Down Under is always tough to beat.  And with the thumping eight-wicket win over the hosts on Tuesday, Australia went into a series-decider with some serious momentum which eventually was called off.
