Celebrity couple Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay kapur are officially divorced now. The couple who got married in 2003 in lavish affair had been going through a messy legal battle for the past couple of years. A family court here on Monday granted a divorce to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor and Delhi-based businessman Sunjay Kapur, bringing an end to their messy separation battle. Karisma's lawyer Kranti Sathe told IANS “Today Monday, the court granted them the divorce after verifying everything that was written." The custody of their two children -- daughter Samaira and son Kiaan -- went to Karisma, Sathe said. Sunjay will have access to them for two weekends during vacations. sunjay had alleged that karisma had married him because of his money and that the actress has failed terribly as wife, daughter-in-law and also as a mother.

Randhir Kapoor rubbished Sunjay’s claims and stated that, “Everyone knows our ­credentials. We are Kapoors. We don't need to run after anyone's money. We have been blessed with not only money, but our talent can support us for the rest of our lives.”

“Sunjay is a third class man. I never wanted Karisma marrying him. He has debauchery in his ­system and never cared for his wife. He has been giving bull*** to her, and living with another woman,” Randhir Kapoor added.

sunjay’s lawyer priya hingorani, stated, “karisma has used the children to demand money from my client. she is deliberately not allowing them to meet sunjay. she has been poisoning the children's minds against their father."

karisma kapoor filed a dowry case against husband sanjay and mother-in-law rani surinder kapur under section 498 a dowry prevention act and section 34 of the indian penal code.

Karisma filed a fresh 'harassment' case and petition stated, “He was residing with another woman in Delhi with that woman's child while still being married to her (Karisma)”.

The petition also stated the incidents of domestic violence alleging how Sanjay had asked his mother to slap her because she was unable to fit into a dress her mother-in-law wanted her to wear post pregnancy.

Karisma also alleged that Sunjay Kapoor had married her only because she was a famous and successful film star which would facilitate him to be reported in the press.
