Tehran: Iran has asked the US to give up its threatening language while dealing with Tehran.

Commenting on US President Barack Obama's remarks to keep military force alongside diplomacy on the table while dealing with Iran over its nuclear programme, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said Tuesday that it was regretful that they were still using language of threat instead of language of respect.

"We have announced that this language (of threats) should be replaced by the language of respect," she said in her weekly press briefing.

On Sunday, Obama said the deal with Syria on its chemical weapons could serve as a "lesson" to Iran to take advantage of diplomacy over its nuclear program.

The nuclear issue is "far larger" than the chemical weapons, he said in an interview with ABC News.

"Insistence on unreal and illogical stances will bear no results," the Iranian official said.
