New Delhi: Ironic it may sound, political activists who have spoken against gay laws have been caught being gay themselves.
The more vocal and insistent the politician's anti gay stance is, the more likely it is that they are ‘in the closet'.
Here's a list of ten such people who have hid their true selves for a good image in the eyes of the public:
1. Eddie Long
He was the leader of Georgia mega church. He joined the Church in 1987.
In 2004, he led a march to Dr. Martin Luther King's grave in the name of defining marriage as between a man and a woman.
Long had been accused by four young boys of abusing his spiritual authority by lavishing them with gifts and coercing them into sexual acts during overnight trips.
2. Troy King
Former Attorney General of the state of Alabama, US.
An ardent anti-gay activist, who had attempted to outlaw sex toys, he was caught by his wife having sex with a male aide and subsequently banished from his home by his wife.
3. George Rekers
George Alan Rekers, a prominent anti-gay activist who co-founded the conservative Family Research Council, was caught returning from a 10-day trip to Europe with a male escort who was a prostitute.
The male escort told media he had given Rekers "sexual massages" while traveling together in Europe.
4. Caleb Hesse
First grade teacher and volunteer youth leader Caleb Douglas Hesse has been a longtime anti-gay activist and even donated to Prop 8 in California to ban gay marriage.
In August 2012, he confessed to sexually abusing "numerous underage boys," usually during overnight trips with the Evangelical Free Church youth group in Yucca Valley, CA.
