London: French President Francois Hollande has said that he would not contest for a second term if he fails to reduce unemployment.

In an interview on Thursday, Hollande acknowledged he had made mistakes since taking office in 2012, BBC reported. Unemployment in France is currently at 11 percent.

Hollande has vowed to go "to the end to reform France, to make it stronger in the two and a half years I have left".

He also promised that from next year there would be no additional tax "on anyone".

A recent poll showed eight French voters out of 10 would not support Hollande's bid for a second mandate and just 28 percent of Leftist supporters want him to run for 2017 presidential race.

At the end of September, unemployment grew by 4.3 percent on yearly basis with more than 3.4 million people jobless.
