New Delhi: Prime Minster Narendra Modi today posed next to his wax statue due to be placed at London’s Madame Tussauds museum. Three of his wax statues have been installed in Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok and one of them will be put up in London in the next eight days.

With the wax statue, PM Modi has joined the league of global leaders. Dressed in his trademark cream-coloured chooridar kurta and sleeveless jacket, with his ‘namaste’ pose, PM Modi’s statue will be placed with the likes of US President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French Francoise Holland in London.

The wax statue cost £150,000 (Rs 1.5 crores each) and took four months to be made. Modi ‘met’ his wax statue on Monday and posed with it too.

“What can I say? As far as art is concerned, the Madame Tussauds team is exceptional at what they do. What Lord Brahma does normally is what the artists there are doing. Today, I had an opportunity as the prime servant of my people to meet my wax figure,”

Modi was quoted as saying in a release.

“We will be delighted to welcome Mr Modi to the world stage at Madame Tussauds London,”

said General Manager, Edward Fuller.

Narendra Modi saw his wax figure in New Delhi on Monday when it was on its way to London.

“It’s wonderful that he had the opportunity to see his figure in India earlier this week before the public get the chance to meet him here. His social media following shows just what immense interest there is in him and I’m sure that interest will be apparent here too as guests get the chance to stand shoulder to shoulder with one of the most influential men in the world. And maybe even grab a selfie,”

the statement read.

Historical leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Winston Churchill too have found a place at the Madame Tussauds museum at London’s Baker Street.
