Pakistan has informed member states of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) that India’s missile programmes was posing a danger to regional peace and stability.

According to a report in ‘The Express Tribune’, Additional Secretary of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tasnim Aslam told a visiting MTCR delegation headed by Ham Sang-Wook that the introduction of destabilizing systems by India such as missile defence programmes and inter-continental ballistic missiles are not in the interest of peace and stability in South Asia.

MTCR is a grouping of 35 states that seeks to prevent missile proliferation by adhering to common export policy guidelines related to missile technologies. India was recently admitted as a member of this group.

Tasnim Aslam also briefed the MTCR delegation on Pakistan’s contribution to international efforts aimed at preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery.

“Pakistan’s export control regime is at par with the best international standards and its national control lists encompass the items and technologies controlled by the MTCR,” Tasnim Aslam informed the delegation.
