New Delhi: A person obstructing the path of an ambulance will have to pay a fine of Rs. 2000 now, Delhi Traffic Police has announced.
Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Muktesh Chander yesterday announced that all hospitals will have to note down the vehicle number, date and time of violation of norm and proof, if any. The same will be handed over to the police for further action.
Police, he said, will verify the facts and issue legal notice if the charges are proved to be correct.
“Defaulters will have to pay a fine of Rs 2,000,” he said.
Under the present law, it is illegal to hinder the movement of an ambulance which has its siren on. The law also empowers emergency vehicles like ambulances, fire engines and police patrol vehicles to overtake other vehicles.
