Hyderabad: A 23-year-old woman, who aspires to become a police officer, was allegedly raped, filmed and blackmailed by three of her batchmates for almost two weeks in Telangana's Karimnagar district.
The accused, identfied as G Srinivas and M Anjaiah, were reportedly taking coaching classes with her to join the police force.
Karimnagar Superintendent of Police D Joel Davis said the incident took place on the outskirts of Veenavanka village on February 10.
"The trio took the two women to a hillock and it seems one of the women sensed danger and ran away. Two of the accused allegedly raped the victim while the third one shot a video on his cell phone," the officer told PTI over the phone.
The three later blackmailed her threatening to post the video clip on social media and continued to assault her for over 10 days, police said.
The woman, police say, told her parents about the incident only two days ago, after which a rape complaint was filed. The accused have also been charged under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Information Technology Act.
Two of the accused are still in hospital while the third Rakesh, who reportedly filmed the crime, is in police custody.
