Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission today sought a report from District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police Agra amid a raging row on alleged forced conversion.

“The Commission has sought a report from Agra DM and SSP within three days on the manner in which conversion was done through forgery,” Commission's member Suhail Ayub told PTI.

He said that the Commission would also visit Agra to know the ground reality.

“The Commission will visit Agra at the earliest and the date will be finalised in a day or so,” Ayub said.

About 100 people, mostly Muslim slum dwellers, were re-converted and “brought back” to the Hindu fold through a ritual carried out by Hindu organisation Dharma Jagran Manch.  The police in Agra registered a case against the outfit and its UP convener Nand Kishore on late Tuesday night and launched investigations into the incident.  The issue of alleged forced conversion of 100 Muslims in Agra yesterday echoed in Lok Sabha with Trinamool Congress members raising the issue in the House.
