Unnao(UP): Finally the hunt for hidden gold in Unnao district of UP came to an end on Thursday with archaeologists hitting natural soil in the second trench.
Three weeks after the digging prompted by a shady seer Shobhan Sarkar's dream began- the excavators had reached to a depth of 5.75 metres in the second trench.
In the first trench of digging only some pieces of pottery and some animal bones were found.
Now in the second trench ASI has just found natural soil and has finally decided not to move beyond the second trench though at the start of excavation the Geological Survey of India. Had hinted at the existence of some non-magnetic metal, possibly gold, silver or an alloy, which was presumed to be buried at the site but no metal was found.
ASI officials had been insisting that the basis of their excavation was the GSI report.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has stated that it a lesson for them, ASI officials have agreed that it has proven to be a mistake for them .
Thus the gold hunt has finally ended in bringing a bad name to ASI and GSI .
