New Delhi: Intelligence agencies are having sleepless nights as two of the dreaded underworld dons Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan have become untraceable, according to a report published in The Hindu.

The development comes as a major embarrassment for Narendra Modi government as it had promised to bring back Dawood at any cost.

According to the report, intelligence agencies have written to the Maharashtra police to provide assistance as both of the dons have deep connections in Mumbai and its neighboring areas.

Quoting a senior police officer, the report says that last information that the agencies have on Dawood is that he had left Pakistan a month ago.

“In the past we used to know when he undertook a Haj or left the country to visit Dubai but for the last one month we have no information about his whereabouts,” an source disclosed to The Hindu on condition of anonymity.

The reason behind the shifting of the don from his alleged safe haven in Karachi is not known yet.

“We have no information as to whether he has been moved out by the ISI or he has left of his own accord. All we know for sure is that he is not in Pakistan,” an officer told the newspaper.
