Bhubaneswar: Tata Steel will build 30 model schools in Odisha with an investment of Rs 135 crore in an effort to provide quality education to students in far-flung areas, it was announced on Wednesday.

The schools will be built in 30 blocks across the state.

Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallick laid the foundation stone of the first such school in Jantaribol in Kamakshyanagar block in Dhenkanal district. To be built on 20.52 acres of land, the school at Jantaribol will have a two-storey building.

Along with the building, Tata Steel will also provide the furniture for each school.
Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company, a Tata Steel subsidiary company, will be building the schools.

The minister commended this initiative of Tata Steel and hoped it will promote quality education in the state.

Reaffirming the company's commitment to partner in the progress of Odisha, Tata Steel vice president Sunil Bhaskaran said the company will take more such initiatives in the education and social sectors in the state in the coming days.
