Jodhpur: The Jodhpur police today filed a 1,012 page chargesheet against self-styled godman Asaram Bapu and four others, slapping charges of rape, illegal confinement. molestation and criminal conspiracy..
The District and Sessions Court sent Asaram and four others to 10 days judicial custody till November 16.
After the chargesheet was filed, Asaram said, all the charges were "bogus" and he was being framed as part of a conspiracy.
Charges under Section 376(2)(f) (rape), 376(D), 354A, 370(4), 506, 509/34, 109 and 120B of Indian Penal Code, sections 23 and 26 of Juvenile Justice Act and sections 5(f)g, 6, 7, 8, and 17 of Prevention of Child Sexual Offences Act have been made in the chargesheet.
A total of 14 sections have been slapped against Asaram and if found guilty, the godman can face life imprisonment.
The court will hear arguments on charges on November 16. Asaram said, he was ready to face trial.
The other four accused in the sexual assault case are Shilpi, Shiva, Sharad and Prakash. Shiva was a sevadar in the ashram where the alleged sexual assault took place, Sharad Chandra was the director of the Gurukul in Chhindwara, MP, where the victim was staying, Shilpi was the warden of the girls' hostel, and Prakash was the cook.
