New Delhi: A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in New Delhi on Wednesday issued production warrant for October 13 against suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Abu Jundal, one of the alleged masterminds of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
District judge IS Mehta, who was scheduled to hear the arguments on charges in the case, issued a production warrant seeking presence of Jundal, currently lodged in Arthur Road jail in Mumbai in connection with 26/11 terror attack case before him on the next date of hearing.
The NIA had named Jundal alias Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari in a chargesheet for allegedly conspiring to carry out terror activities in India.
He was listed in the chargesheet for offences punishable under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for allegedly attempting to recruit persons through Internet for the banned group, LeT and conspiring to carry out terror activities in India.
In its chargesheet, the NIA had claimed that in and around 2005, Jundal, along with his associate Fayyaz Kagzi, had joined LeT and in November 2005.
They went to Nepal to meet LeT commander Abdul Aziz and received a three-day training of bomb assembling and IED-making from him.
The agency had also claimed that on returning to India, Jundal fled to Pakistan via Bangladesh and stayed in Karachi and in LeT's headquarters in Muridke.
He did three training courses in LeT training camp and came in touch with LeT's top operatives, including its chief Hafiz Saeed, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and Zarar Shah, NIA had alleged.
