Lucknow, April 26: A court here in the Uttar Pradesh capital yesterday sent seven accused in the murder of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zia-ul-Haq to five days of police remand.

Following the orders by Special Judicial Magistrate (CBI) Mirza Zeenat, the accused will be handed over to the state police by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team investigating the case at 10 a.m. Friday.

The seven accused who have been handed over to police on a five-day remand are Ram Asrey, Ghanshyam Saroj, Ram Lakhan, Bulle Patel, Chote Lal Yadav, Shiv Ram and Munna Lal Patel.

Haq was killed by an angry mob following the murders of Balipur village head Nanhe Yadav and his brother Suresh Yadav March 2.

After being beaten up, the DSP was shot dead by unknown assailants.

The widow of the slain police officer had alleged that the local legislator and minister in the Akhilesh Yadav cabinet, Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya had conspired to get her husband killed.

Following this, Raja Bhaiyya was forced to quit the cabinet and cases were registered against him.

On request of the families of the killed men, the Uttar Pradesh government had recommended a CBI probe into the triple murders. The CBI is currently investigating the matter.
