Pathakot attack: Was Gurdaspur SP Salwinder Singh honeytrapped by ISI?

Pathankot: A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team today arrived here to begin probe into the terror attack on Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Pathankot.

The NIA team is expected to grill Gurdaspur Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh once again, whose vehicle was hijacked by the terrorists when he was reportedly returning from a religious trip.

According to some media reports, NIA officials are also looking into the possibility of Salwinder being honeytrapped by Pakistan's intelligence agency  ISI. According to these reports, They suspec that Salwinder might have played a crucial role in plotting the attack and may have provided logistical support to the militants.

Intelligence agencies also pointed that Gurdaspur SP may be in touch with ISI and the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad which claimed the responsibility for attack at IAF base.

The role of  Salwinder, who claimed he was abducted by the terrorists who attacked the Pathankot IAF base, was put under the scanner on Tuesday evening, as a team of NIA officials questioned him at his residence in Gurdaspur.

Investigators are looking at Salwinder's claims with suspicions due to inconsistencies in claims of the SP and his two companions who were abducted.

Reports say that Salwinder will also be taken to the incident site from where he along with his cook Madan Gopal and driver were kidnapped and a scene of abduction will be recreated.

Singh had claimed that he was abducted by five heavily armed men while he was returning after visiting a shrine on December 31 night.

According to some media reports, NIA officials are also looking into the possibility of Salwinder being honeytrapped by the ISI. They suspected that Salwinder might have played a crucial role in plotting the attack and may have provided logistical support to the militants.

Intelligence agencies also pointed that Gurdaspur SP may be in touch with ISI and the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad which claimed the responsibility for attack at IAF base.

On the other hand, the combing operations continued today to sanitise the IAF base in Pathankot. Sources in the Indian Air Force said that every inch of the Air Force Station (AFS) was being thoroughly scanned.
