Lucknow: As many as 2091 people from Uttar Pradesh are missing in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir, a senior official said here today.

Among the missing persons 395 persons are from Moradabad, 300 from Firozabad, 141 from Shamli, 135 from Bareilly, over 400 from Pilibhit, 312 from Rampur and others, UP Home Secretary Kamal Saxena said here today.

The figure can vary as these missing persons might have taken shelter at some place but had not reported about it to their families, he said, adding that more reports from other districts are awaited.

Last week, Uttar Pradesh government has set up a special cell to collect information about people from the state that have gone missing in the devastating floods in Jammu and Kashmir and coordinate for extending help to them.
