Ludhiana: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has said that it will not act as a guiding or controlling force for the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

RSS chief spokesperson Manmohan Vaidya, who was here to participate in the five-day long annual national meeting of the Coordination Committee of the Sangh Parivaar, said on Wednesday, "The RSS would not act as a guiding or controlling force for the Narendra Modi government."

The Sangh had participated in the campaign during the Lok Sabha elections only to ensure a ‘nationalistic' government at the Centre, he told media on the sideline of the event which will conclude on Thursday.

"Now the RSS is back to its normal activities and using its energy for national development and social activities," he added.

Vaidya also dismissed reports suggesting that the RSS was running the BJP party through ‘remote control'.

His remarks came in the wake of several opposition leaders alleging that the RSS is influencing the Modi government and its reflection is clearly visible in the functioning.

When asked about the RSS' assessment of the performance of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA government, he expressed satisfaction saying, "RSS would like to give one year to the government to show its performance."

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, along with 32 senior leaders gathered at Doraha near Ludhiana to participate in the annual national meeting.
