Leopard rescued from dry well in Tamil Nadu

Udhagamandalam, Tamil Nadu, Jun 24 : A seven-year-old leopard that fell into a 25-feet deep dry well at Elanelli village near Ooty (Udhagamandalam) was rescued on Sunday by forest department staff.



The rescue operation lasted more than seven hours. An iron cage with a live rooster was put inside the well to cage the trapped animal. No sedation was used, wildlife officials claimed.

The leopard was later let off into the Parson valley forest area, said Bathrisamy, divisional forest officer, Ooty.
