Kolkata: Panic spread fast at the state-run SSKM hospital last evening following a leakage in an oxygen cylinder at the hospital's maternity ward.
Fire Brigade sources said three fire tenders were rushed to the spot, which brought the situation under control within two hours with the help of the hospital staff.
The panic lasted only for a short span, they stressed. In a separate incident of fire at the second campus of Vidyasagar Women's College at Badur Bagan Lane under Amherst Street police station, college property was partially damaged.
Six fire tenders put into service which brought the situation under control in about three hours.
In another incident, a shop of paper materials at Jackson Lane near Brabourn Road was gutted.
Six fire tenders brought the situation under control in about two hours, the sources said, adding there was no injury or casualty in any of these incidents.
