Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Prasad yesterday asked his department officers to strengthen the counter-insurgency grid and target residual militants in the state.
“The officers should strengthen the counter-insurgency grid and target the residual militants.
They must also ensure effective supervision over functioning of police stations,” Prasad said at a meeting top officers of Jammu region here.
In the meeting of Range DIGs and SPs of Jammu Zone at the Zonal Police headquarters, discussions and deliberations were held on issues relating t infrastructure, canteen facilities, crime position, and law and order situation.
The state police chief asked the officers to make every effort to maintain good work that has been done in ending militancy from the area.
He underlined the need for effective supervision at senior levels to bring improvement in over-all functioning of police.
He expressed his concern over the increase in the number of road accidents, and said casualties in road accidents are much higher than that of militancy related incidents.
“Therefore, necessary steps need to be taken to have a complete check over the visible traffic violations,” he said.
Additional DGP S P Vaid took stock of construction works being carried out under the modernisation plan.
He told that the Police Headquarters was making every effort to provide better and modernised barrack-living and housing facilities to jawans and officers and their families.
