Kolkata:  The niece of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is set to release her book which highlights the relationship between the freedom fighter and his German wife, Emilie Schenkl, on January 16.

The book is titled 'A True Love Story-Emilie and Subhas' his niece and Netaji Research Bureau chairperson Krishna Bose told PTI yesterday.

"Though we (Krishna and Emilie) had an age difference of 20 years, in between us we shared a great rapport...We shared the same birthday...In this book (I) have put down my understandings of the love between Emilie and Netaji," Ms Krishna Bose said.

Netaji married Ms Schenkl during his visit to Germany some time in 1937 and had a daughter, Anita Bose Pfaff.

A special CD set of Netaji's favourite songs will also be released by yesteryear actress Sharmila Tagore. The CDs will have 15 songs out of the 17, including a "kirtan", listed as his favourites in one note during his stay at the Mandalay Jail in 1925-27.

"The songs are sung by Pramita Mallick, Suman Bhattacharya, Sasha Ghoshal and one by historian Sugata Bose," Ms Krishna Bose said.

On January 15, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the week-long celebrations and an exhibition to mark the occasion.

Ms Banerjee will also unveil a marble plaque in front of the entrance of Netaji Bhawan on Elgin Road to commemorate the route along which Sishir Bose drove Netaji on the night of the 'great escape' (Mahanishkraman) on January 16-17, 1941, the former Trinamool Congress lawmaker said.
