Hisar, Mar 2: The agitating Jats in Haryana, who are demanding OBC quota in government jobs, on Thursday extended their deadline by another three days.

The decision was taken at a meeting in Hansi, in which 28 representatives of Jat Khaps took part, keeping in mind the death of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's relative, said Sube Singh Samain, spokesperson of the Khaps.

In the meeting, a confidential memorandum was prepared and will be given to the Chief Minister, he said.

In case of another failure of talks with the government, the envelope will be publicly opened and read at Mayyar village here in an open assembly of Jats, Samain said.

On the other hand, the All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti leader Ram Bhagat Malik said the action committee spearheading the stir would meet at Mayyar tomorrow to decide the further course of action.

Railway traffic remained suspended on Fazilka-Delhi route and the indefinite dharna by the Jats entered 12th day.

Even though the Jats, who are also demanding withdrawal of the cases registered against some members of the community in the stir last year, are not squatting on the rail tracks, the Railway authorities have suspended the traffic on the route as a precautionary measure.
