Hooda announces bonanza for defence personnel, farmers

Chandigarh: In a bonanza to members of the defence forces from the state, Haryana Government today announced that 50,000 flats would be constructed while in another sop to farmers, crop damage compensation has been hiked manifolds.


The government has also decided not to charge regularisation fees in 543 infrastructure-deficient colonies of the urban areas, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said after a state Cabinet meeting here this evening.

To facilitate defence forces personnel including ex-servicemen, para military personnel and ex-para military personnel, his government has decided to launch a housing scheme at a cost of Rs 8,250 crore to provide them flats at a subsidised rate, he said.

Five cities where the flats would be constructed are Panchkula, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Sonepat and Bahadurgarh, he said.

Though the state government has decided not to charge regularisation fees in civic amenities and infrastructure deficient colonies in urban areas, however, development charges would be payable by plot holders in such areas under Municipal Corporations of Gurgaon and Faridabad at a rate of Rs 150 per square yard.
