New Delhi, Oct 17: The Haryana government today said it was IAS officer Ashok Khemka himself who had sought a transfer from his present post.

A government spokesperson said, Khemka cancelled the mutation of Vadra's land in Haryana after he was transferred.

Meanwhile, Congress spokesman Rashid Alvi said, the question arises why Khemka raised the issue on his 43th transfer, and why not earlier.

"Transferring officials is a prerogative of the government, and if the concerned official felt he has been punished, he is free to approach CAT (Central Administrative Tribunal), said Alvi.
