Patna: Dissatisfied with the functioning of ITIs in Bihar, the state government has decided to invite private companies to run these institutes, a minister said today.

The state government has received a lot of complaints about the state-run ITIs not being in good shape and unable to impart training to the students due to the apathy of the Centre, which grants affiliation to them but does not monitor its activities, Bihar Labour Minister Vijay Prakash said.

Keeping this in view the state government has already granted permission to some private companies to run 12 ITIs in Bihar, he said.

Prakash said it has also been decided to do away with the earlier norm to request private companies to operate the ITIs. Instead an open tender would be floated at the national level to award contract to the private companies to run the ITIs in Bihar.

A recruitment fair will be held in Patna College premise on November 30 in which 31 companies have consented to take part, he added.
