Gadkari, Jitendra to conduct aerial survey in Kashmir

Jammu: Union Ministers Nitin Gadari and Jitendra Singh will tomorrow take an aerial survey of various roads damaged in recent floods in valley in Jammu and Kashmir.

Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Minister Gadkari and Minister of State (MoS) in Prime Minister's officer (PMO) Singh will arrive in Srinagar tomorrow, officials said today.

During his one-day visit to the summer capital, Gadkari will make an on-the-spot assessment of the damage to roads occurring as a result of floods and discuss remedial steps to be taken thereon, they said.

Soon after his arrival, Gadkari, accompanied by Singh and the officers concerned will undertake an aerial survey of various roads and construction works under progress.

After the survey, he will hold a meeting with the officers of Border Roads Organisation (BRO), CPWD and State Roads and Buildings officials to review the status of roads and the damage caused by floods, they said.

In his capacity as Minister of Rural Development, Gadkari will also hold a meeting with the officers concerned to discuss issues related to drinking water, sanitation and PMGSY Roads.

Later in the day, Gadkari and Singh are scheduled to meet Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Before their return to New Delhi, the two leaders are also scheduled to meet volunteers and representatives of various organisations involved in the flood relief and rehabilitation works in Kashmir, officials said.
