New Delhi:  The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) today celebrated its 21st foundation day here felicitating 43 of its employees for their performance in 2014-15.

DMRC Chairman and Union Urban Development (UDD) Ministry Secretary Madhusudan Prasad, flanked by UDD Additional Secretary D S Mishra and DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh, presented the awards to the employees.

During the event, Singh listed the achievements of DMRC during last year and said the Corporation is taking additional efforts on the indigenisation of technologies involved in Metro operations in sync with the 'Make in India' campaign.

"On the operational front, additional statistics are now being taken not only for peak hour traffic but peak of peak hour traffic owing to the ever increasing ridership.

"Also, additional efforts are being made to stress on indigenisation of technologies involved in Metro operations in sync with the 'Make in India' campaign of the Government of India," Singh said adding over 90 per cent of Rolling Stock procured by DMRC had been manufactured in India.

Singh said even as DMRC undertakes large scale development activities, the Corporation was committed to ensure the works do not add to pollution levels.

Prasad said Delhi Metro has "changed the course of public transport in India" and lauded DMRC saying it has maintained reliability and punctuality of services, which reported last year was 99.88 per cent.

Meanwhile, the corporation adjudged Mahesh Kumar (one of its station managers) as "Metro Person of the Year", while "Metro Woman of the Year" award was given to Renu Dhillon. The Central Secretariat Metro station was named 'Best Metro Station'.

Besides, 41 other employees including those from Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were felicitated.
