Bhopal: In a precautionary measure, the Bhopal administration on Wednesday night demolished a four-story tilted building in the densely populated Kamla Park area by carrying out a controlled explosion.

Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said that the building had developed cracks and tilted due to incessant rainfall.

Doing this was necessitated as experts said that the building may collapse by own at any moment resulting into casualties, they said.

“This was a controlled explosion. We make it fall vertically otherwise it would have created more trouble for people,” a BMC engineer said.

Later, the administration decided to call blast expert Sharad Sarwate from Indore and a controlled explosion was carried out in his presence.

Six nearby buildings were damaged in the process, an official said.
