New Delhi, Jul 8: The CISF will continue the deployment of its personnel and apparatus at the Delhi Metro Airport link which has suspended its operations begining today for repairs.

The operators of the high-speed link—Reliance Infra, according to sources, had reportedly asked for de-mobilising the armed paramilitary component in their communication to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the period of the suspension of operations on the line.

However, no request in this regard has been made to the force, sources privy to the development said.

“The CISF can only withdraw its personnel on the instructions of its headquarters which will act on the directions of the Union Home Ministry.

The troops will be there on the airport metro link till then,” they said.  The force has deployed about 400 personnel, including women, to secure the network which connects the national capital's heart with the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).

Apart from the normal access control duties at the various airport metro stations, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) also has deployed its quick reaction teams of commandos to respond to any armed or terrorist threat to the facility.

The cost of CISF deployment and other logistical facilities are borne by the operators of the metro link.

The force also guards the other network of the Delhi Metro in the national capital and neighbouring cities like Noida, Gurgaon and Faridabad.

The operations on the 23-km line have been suspended for an indefinite period owing to faults in the civil structure that the metro trains runs on.
