Thane: Eleven people died and seven others were injured when a three-storeyed residential building collapsed in Naupada area of Thane district in the wee hours today.
NDRF deputy commandant Sachidanand Gavde informed that the incident took place around 2 am.
Gavde said that the rescue teams were rushed to the sport as soon as the office learnt about the tragedy.
More than 10 people are feared to be trapped inside the debris.
NDRF teams along with fire officials are undertaking relief and rescue operations, Gavde said.
A security guard of the building said that the entire structure collapsed in few seconds.
The building was 50-year-old and was in a dilapidated state.
