Lucknow: Expressing his displeasure over repeated breakdown of machines in power generation projects, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today directed the authorities to initiate stern action against those found guilty.

During a high-level meeting to review power supply, the Chief Minister also directed for a third party probe into breakdown of two generator transformers at Anpara thermal power plant, an official spokesman said.

He said that uninterrupted power supply to the people should be ensured at all cost.
Expressing displeasure over the Anpara incident, Akhilesh said that proper attention should be paid on maintenance of machines at power plants.

The officers informed the CM that while one transformer would be made operational by August 16, the second one would become operational within two to three months.

The spokesman said after tough stand by the CM, disciplinary action has been started against chief general manager of Anpara Tribhuvan Tiwari and superintending engineer Prem Dhawan.

He said that explanation has been called from the two officers and stern action would be taken after fixing accountability.

Meanwhile, to probe into the causes behind the breakdown of two transformers at Anpara a three-member inquiry committee headed by director of Central Electricity Authority T K Saha has been constituted.

The committee, which would submit its report within a week, would look into reasons behind the breakdown, fix accountability, action to be taken against the officers responsible and give suggestions to check recurrence of such incidents in future.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also enquired about availability of power in the state and its sources.
