New Delhi, Aug 9: Senior BJP leader L K Advani today said the Supreme Court should direct the Delhi Police to probe the role of Congress leader Satish Sharma in the July 2008 ‘cash-for-vote' scam.

Referring to a WikiLeaks cable which claimed Sharma's aide Nachiketa Kapoor showed “two chests containing cash” to a US embassy official five days before the July 22, 2008 trust vote, Advani said Satish Sharma should also be investigated in the case.

“The Supreme Court has slammed the Delhi police for its shoddy probe into the scam and I request that the Supreme Court direct (police) to investigate the role of the Congress leader Satish Sharma,” he told a BJP youth wing rally here.

Terming the “buying of MPs” by the UPA-I as “shameful”, Advani alleged that powerful people, including Chief Ministers, were asked by the government to find out “MPs who could be manipulated and also their price. This is the height of shamelessness.”

“Unfortunately, India's democracy which we were so proud of was demolished by this government during a trust vote in the Parliament when MPs were bought by the Congress to win the trust vote,” Advani alleged.

“This government led by Manmohan Singh is the most corrupt government not only in the history of Indian democracy but also in any democratic country of the world,” he alleged. PTI
