Bhopal:  A first-year MBBS student of King George Medical College (KGMC), Lucknow, arrested in the Vyapam scam, was today remanded by a court here to 15-day judicial custody.

Virendra Kumar Bind (30) is accused of writing the pre-medical test (PMT) for 2009-2010 by impersonating Rajkishore Uike, and thus helping Uike get into the government medical college here.

Bind surrendered before a court here on July 1 which then remanded him in the custody of special investigation team of police, said inspector Manish Mishra.

Bind was taken by the police to Lucknow yesterday. "We went to his college and also his house in Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi) district of Uttar Pradesh to collect some evidence," the police officer said.

Abhishek Sachan, a tout, had revealed that he hired Bind to take the PMT conducted by Vyapam (MP Professional Examination Board) on Uike's behalf for Rs 50,000.

Subsequently Uike's admission was cancelled.

Sachan is now lodged in Gwalior jail. Following his revelation, police issued a notice to Bind, summoning him.

Bind first applied for an anticipatory bail but after it was rejected he surrendered, Mishra said.
