Thane: In two different cases, the Anti-Corruption Bureau's (ACB) Thane division nabbed a traffic police constable from Vasai and female revenue clerk (talathi) from Kudal in Sindudurgh while they were allegedly accepting bribes from complainants, ACB sources said here today.  Thane Division District Superintendent of Police (ACB) Datta Karale told PTI that the duo have been arrested and offences under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, were registered against them.

In an official release issued here today, Additional Superintendent of Police (ACB) Shrinivas Ghadge stated that in the first case, police constable Vilas Baba More, attached to the Vasai traffic police allegedly demanded Rs 2,000 from a complainant for allowing two water tankers to pass through the road by the Virar railway station.

After negotiations, it was decided that the water tankers would be allowed to pass if Rs 1,000 is paid, after which the complainant lodged a complaint with the Thane unit of the ACB which laid a trap and caught the police constable while accepting the bribe at Virar railway station, the ACB officer said.

In the second case, the ACB raided a Sindhudurgh lady revenue officer Manisha Shipugade, of Bhivane in Kudal taluka and arrested her while accepting Rs 400 from the complainant in her office at about 1.30 pm today.

The ACB official said that the revenue officer had demanded Rs 700 to issue 8(a) and 7/12 documents to a complainant.
