Salem (Tamil Nadu),Jun 24: A 60-year-old man died and one person seriously injured when some crackers stored in a pump-set room here exploded, police said today.
The crackers' unit owner Govindaswamy, who was arrested, had stored it in the pump-set room of the victims to protect it from rain, police said.
When the motor was switched on yesterday for pumping water from the well, the crackers exploded.
The man succumbed to his injuries today in hospital, police said.
Besides Govindaswamy, his son was also arrested, sources added.
