New Delhi: In yet another incident of attack on religious structure in Delhi, a church in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj area was vandalised today morning.

This is the fifth such incident since December last year.

Members of St Alphonsa's church said that unidentified people jumped in from the main gate wall and broke opened the main gate of the church.

The incident took place around 1 AM. Police said that prayer items kept in the church were thrown around and some other things were also broken, adding that no FIR has been registered as yet.

Senior police officials had reached the spot. "We are investigating the incident and scanning the footage of CCTV installed near the church to identify the accused," said a senior police official.

The incident has taken place just five days ahead of the assembly elections in Delhi.

Last month, the Delhi police had arrested three people in a case of vandalising church property in west Delhi's Vikaspuri. In the same month, a minor fire was reported from a church in Rohini. In December last year, the St Sebastian's Church in east Delhi's Dilshad Garden area was burnt down.
