'UFO' sighted in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj, image goes viral: Reports

New Delhi: Known for its penchant for bizarre investigations, the Uttar Pradesh Police -- of Azam Khan's buffalo fame -- is all geared up to launch another massive hunt, this time for objects beyond the realms of the planet.

According to latest reports, the UP police, known for its unmatched efficiency and diligence, is now set to investigate the ‘sighting’ of an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) near Kasganj on Wednesday. If you didn’t hear of it, here is the story.

In the past few days, an image going viral on social media shows a space-ship like object hovering over a building in the UP town. The resemblance to the structure and shape of the aircraft pictured in the circulated image to the innumerable space-ships featured in Hollywood flicks cannot be missed.

With the mystery of the UFO deepening in previous days, government authorities are now all set to investigate the matter.

The probe by the UP police though, may not go extra-terrestrial. According to preliminary investigations, the image of the UFO was captured from a mobile phone in Kasganj district's Manpur area. The person who is believed to have clicked those pictures is nowhere to be found and his phone is switched off, according to local media reports.

District Officer Vijendra Pandian said that he too has received the image and the authorities are identifying if it is from Manpur or some other area.

The image has been sent to MeT department and experts for further investigation.

Earlier, UP minister Azam Khan's buffaloes went missing following which UP Police conducted a massive midnight buffalo hunt. The buffaloes were eventually traced – even sniffer dogs were deployed -- but three policemen were suspended on grounds of 'dereliction of duty.'

One only wonders what the consequences of this probe will be. Whatever the outcome, satire websites are sure to have field day.
