Nirankar Singh, a Mohali hotelier, on Wednesday morning shot dead his wife following an altercation.
60-year-old Nirankar Singh had a heated argument with his wife Kulwant Kaur (60) after which he fired shots at her at point-blank range, leading to her on the spot death.
The hotelier, who has reportedly confessed to the crime, was arrested from the spot, located in front of the Manav Mangal Smart School in Phase 10 of Mohali.
According to reports, a murder case has also been registered against Nirankar at the Phase XI police station.
The incident reportedly happened when the couple was on their way to visit a relative at Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research(PGIMER), Chandigarh. The couple has two children who are settled abroad.
