One dead, 14 injured in grenade attack near Jehangir Chowk area in Srinagar

According to police, the grenade missed its target and exploded near a rickshaw on road. The blast created panic in the area with people running for lives.

One civilian today succumbed to his injuries and 14 others were injured when terrorists hurled a grenade targeting a CRPF vehicle near Jehangir Chowk area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to police, the grenade missed its target and exploded near a rickshaw on road. The blast created panic in the area with people running for lives.

All injured persons were admitted to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar for treatment.

“Some miscreant tried to throw a grenade on the deployment but reportedly it exploded close to him and he (miscreant) is injured,” SSP Srinagar told media persons.

 

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police foiled an attempt by terrorists to loot weapons from a police post guarding the minority community in Shopian today.

No one was injured in the incident, a police official said. The militants fled after the guards raised an alarm.
