Noida: In an incident that appeared straight out of the Bollywood film Oye Lucky Lucky Oye where Abhay Deol essayed the character of Lucky Singh, a charismatic and fearless thief who carries out a spree of burglaries much to the embarrassment of the police, two thieves drove into a posh locality in Noida in broad daylight and got away unnoticed after stealing a luxury BMW.

The incident happened on an early morning in Noida Sector 17A last week when the two thieves drove boldly into the gated society compound in a stolen Audi without getting noticed by the security guards and drove away with another stolen vehicle.

According to a TOI report, the theft was managed since the main doors of several homes were left unlocked for domestic helps to come in, allowing the thieves to fearlessly walk in and out of many homes and steal whatever they could. In one house, they found a laptop, while in another; they found a set of car keys, which was of a BMW parked outside.

One of the thieves then took the BMW, while the other drove out the Audi. Though there were people all around, no one noticed the two dauntless thieves.

The incident came to light when the CCTV cameras caught their brazen activities. The footage of July 15 shows the thieves navigating the sector for about 20 minutes.

It was 6:59am when they entered the sector premises in a black Audi A-7. The CCTV footage clearly shows that they were not stopped by the security guards at the main gate nor asked for their identity.

They first stopped at A-11 that has several luxury cars. In the footage, a young man in dressed in black can be seen getting off the Audi and entering the house. He, however, returns in just two minutes and drives away.

Their next stop was A-20, from where they picked up a laptop. They then took a close look at the Fortuner parked at A-22 but headed forward.

The Audi then stopped at A-37, where one of the thieves dauntlessly walked into the house of Ritesh Rupramka, who was in his bedroom at that time.

“The thief walked in as the main door was open and took the keys lying on the table and took my BMW which was just two months old. We were alerted when my mother returned from her walk around 8am, which is when we called the police,” Rupramka told The Times of India.

Just 17 minutes after their entry into the sector, i.e. 07:16 am, the two cars, Audi and BMW, can be seen exiting from two separate gates of the society.

Gaurav Grover, DSP Noida, said that the two were asked for their identity in the first house itself.

“One thief entered the basement of the house but before he could get access to the car keys kept in the basement, he was accosted by the domestic staff, after which he left,” he said.
