NEET to be held in 23 more cities of India: CBSE

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today announced that the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to undergraduate medical course will now to be held in 23 more cities of the country.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today announced that the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to undergraduate medical course will now to be held in 23 more cities of the country. 

A record number of over 11,35 lakh students have  registered for NEET in 2017. In 2016, over 8.02 lakh candidates had registered for NEET.

"Looking into the record increase in number of registered candidates this year, the Minister of Human Resources and Development, desired to increase 23 more new examination cities in the list of 80 existing examination cities. Accordingly, 23 new cities have been added," the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said in a statement. 

The new list includes four cities each from Karnataka and Maharashtra, three from Gujarat and Tamil Nadu each, two each from Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Kerala and one city each from Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. 

The NEET 2017 for admission to MBBS/BDS courses in Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India approved medical/dental colleges, will be held on May 7.
