Delhi Police has launched a massive search operation for a woman after a BJP MP complained that he was drugged and filmed in an objectionable position by a gang led by a woman Supreme Court lawyer, and was then demanded Rs 5 crore in extortion.
According to the MP, the gang threatened to release his pictures and videos if the demand was not met. The woman also threatened to implicate the MP in a rape case.
On the other hand, the woman lawyer, who had also approached the police with a rape complaint against the Gujarat MP, is on a run.
The Lok Sabha MP has denied the charges. “These are all false allegations, I have full faith in law; will cooperate in the investigation,” told news agency ANI.
Based on the MP's complaint, an FIR has been lodged under section 384 (extortion) and section 503 (blackmailing) of the IPC and the case in under investigation.
In his complaint to the Delhi Police, the MP claimed that the woman lawyer, who is the the leader of the gang, had sought some help from him and had asked her to accompany her to a house in Ghaziabad, where he was drugged with sedatives mixed in a soft drink.
When he regained his senses, the MP realised that he had been trapped.
Following his complaint, the police chief immediately ordered the registration of an FIR.
Special commissioner Mukesh Meena that a special team has been formed to solve the case, and if required, the case may be transferred to the crime branch or special cell.
In initial probe, it has been found that the woman runs a blackmailing gang and works with a number of associates.
“We have found that her modus operandi is to approach parliamentarians on pretext of seeking help and then befriend them by her smooth talk. She then takes them to her house for tea and then clicks their pictures in objectionable poses. After that, she demands money or a high flying job. If refused, she threatens to register a fake case of rape,” an investigating officer was quoted by Times of India as saying.
According to the report, the woman had allegedly lodged a false case against another MP last year.
