New Delhi: In what could further add to the woes of  Board of Cricket of Control in India (BCCI), the Rajasthan High Court today issued a notice to both the Cricket board and state government regarding the holding of Indian Premier League matches in the drought-hit state.

The move from the HC comes while it was hearing a PIL in the same case. It further asked that why the matches have been shifted to Jaipur from Maharashtra when major water scarcity is prevailing in the state.

Also issuing a notice to Public Health Engineering department (PHED), Water Resources Department, Sports and Youth department and Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), the court has asked them to reply by April 27.

Earlier, the Bombay High Court ruled that no IPL matches will be played in Maharashtra post April 30.

The matches scheduled until April 30 can, however, be held in the state, the court said, adding it could not afford to ignore the plight of people affected by drought.

The rest 13 matches, including the finale on May 29, that were scheduled to be played in Maharashtra next month, will have to be shifted to new venues as per the court direction.
