Gurgaon: In a precautionary measure ahead of the planned Jat quota agitation from June 5, the Gurgaon administration today imposed section 144 of CrPC with immediate effect in the city.
The orders were issued by Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner, T L Satyaprakash, for 60 days under which all unlawful activities, blocking of roads, passages, railway tracks, water channel, power houses, etc by agitators have been prohibited. Carrying of any weapon like fire arms, sword, lathi, kulhari, knives and other weapons has also been prohibited.
“Though none of the Jat organizations has given any notice till now to the district administration regarding any procession or staging of dharna anywhere in Gurgaon on June 5, the administration is geared up to tackle any eventuality,” Satyaprakash, who is also the Gurgaon District Magistrate, said at a press conference.
He said that 22 duty magistrates have been appointed for various areas in the district. The SDMs have been made overall incharges of their respective areas.
Satyaprakash said that National Security Law (NSL) has been implemented in the state and those who resorted to hooliganism would be dealt with as per the provisions of NSL.
He said the cyber cell of the police is monitoring messages in social media and anybody found sending inflammatory messages will be punished as per law.
Recalling the earlier Jat agitation in February, Satyaprakash said four places were provided last time for staging protest and the border districts of Jhajjar and Kapashera were sealed.
He said that if the situation demands, the borders will be sealed again.
The Deputy Commissioner said special care will be taken to ensure students do not have to suffer due to protests and routes of school buses will be diverted if there is any blockade anywhere.
The agitation earlier this year drew some serious flak for the topmost officials. The Parkash Singh report found serious lapses in terms of negligence. Several heads, including the state DGP were shunted out as a fallout.
