A property review start-up based in Gurugram, Roofpik, chose to celebrate the co-founder’s birthday in a rather philanthropic manner. Kanika S Katoch, the co-founder of Roofpik celebrated her birthday on 19th April, 2017. Having a lavish birthday bash is something everyone else does on their birthday. But they chose to differ by giving back to the community in a special way.

In association with an NGO, Dream Girl Foundation, Roofpik held a birthday celebration party for 35 underprivileged kids. Let us tell you, these children must haven’t cut or tasted a cake in their life, but with this innovative move, they were given a feel of what a birthday celebration feels like.

The birthday bash started as the children were brought to Roofpik’s office at 91 Springboard, Gurugram, after which they had a drawing competition. The pretty bunch of cuteness took part in the competition with utmost zeal.

Speaking about the thought behind this humanitarian move, Arpit Mittal, CEO of Rookpik says, “We celebrate our birthdays in radically different ways. We eat, drink, sing along, and generally have a fun time. But, most of those celebrations seem a little selfish, because we truly only celebrate ourselves. While one might say that’s the whole point of a birthday, we sometimes fail to utilize this special day of ours in a way that could mean more to the society that we live in.”

The art competition was followed by an engaging talent show for these young buds. Kids enjoyed themselves while shaking their legs to groovy beats. Many recreational activities like musical chairs were also arranged for the children, and even the adults could hold their joy back. The kids along with the employees of Roofpik enjoyed the game with a lot of fervour.

“For the entire Roofpik team, the day transformed into something that meant more to us than it ever could. To see those smiles on the faces of the kids was something we would remember for all of our lives, and we would make sure to contribute more to the society in the best way that we can,” Kanika S Katoch, Co-Founder – Roofpik said.

This event was Roofpik’s way of giving back to society what it took. We do hope many other organizations will come up with such kind-hearted initiatives for those who’re not as privileged as we are.
