Los Angeles: Eddie Redmayne, who won the coveted Best Actor trophy at the 87th Academy Awards for portraying physicist Stephen Hawking in “The Theory of Everything”, considers himself “lucky” for the honour and has dedicated the award to people suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

The 33-year-old, who took to the Oscar 2015 stage here Sunday, said in his acceptance speech “I don't think I'm capable of articulating quite how I feel right now. I am fully aware that I'm a lucky, lucky man”, reports nydailynews.com.

“This Oscar belongs to all of those people around the world suffering with ALS. It belongs to one exceptional family -- Stephen, Jane and the Hawking children. I will be his custodian. I will be at his beck and call,” he added.

Eddie Redmayne was nominated along with Steve Carell (“Foxcatcher”), Bradley Cooper (“American Sniper”), Benedict Cumberbatch (“The Imitation Game") and Michael Keaton ("Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)”.
