London, Sept 19: The singer also says he'll have to push back the release of his upcoming album, "Born and Raised."

John Mayer's sulty singing voice have been silenced – at least for the time being. The singer announced that he has to back out of two big upcoming shows due to an ailment.

“After several months of going week to week monitoring and hoping to correct the condition, I am forced to cancel my upcoming singing engagements due to something next to my vocal cords called a granuloma,” wrote Mayer on his Tumblr.

A granuloma is a small section of tissue inflammation that most often occurs in the lungs. The condition is treatable.

Mayer will back out of the iHeartradio Music Festival in Las Vegas, which will feature a large collection of performers, including Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Kelly Clarkson and Jay Z.Mayer was also scheduled to perform at an appearance with Tony Bennett in Los Angeles on September 24. He will also miss that performance due to the ailment.

Mayer's performance schedule isn't the only thing suffering from his condition. He also said that his upcoming album release will have to be pushed back to next year.

“Born and Raised is complete as far as music recording, song selection, and in some cases mixing, but because of this condition I couldn't finish singing on several of the tracks,” Mayer wrote.

Born and Raised will be Mayer's fifth studio album, and was supposed to come out in late 2011.

"This is a temporary setback, though I'm not sure how long or short a period of time it will be," Mayer wrote. "I've got the best doctors in the country looking after me and I will be singing and touring again as soon as I get the all clear."
