New York: The song “Call Me Maybe” has become a worldwide hit, reaching number one in countries like Australia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Hungary, the UK and the United States but the 26-year-old hasn't grown tired of the song yet.

“Not yet. I'm waiting for that to happen but at this point it's still such a crazy adventure that I'm on because of this song that I do feel like there's a new element to it everyday.”

Jepsen hopes the novelty of having a hit song never wears off.

“I hope I never get used to that. That would be a shame if I was just like, ‘Ugh, number one, number three.'

I think that's...I mean that's not the reason why I'm in this.

The reason why I'm in this is to put out music that I feel I need to share and hopefully people will embrace it and feel something when they hear it and if it does well, it does well but I don't want my goal to be, ‘I need to be..' No. If it does well it does well. That's just cool. That's bonus.”

So far it looks like Jepsen doesn't have to worry about being a one hit wonder. Her new single recorded with Owl City is called “Good Time” and is also selling well.

Jepsen says she loves to make pop music that's a bit unexpected and compares “Call Me Maybe” to a modern day Annie Lennox.

“We used the idea of being like a modern day Annie Lennox type pop like ‘Walking on Broken Glass.' I want to do songs like that.

That would be amazing so we decided to add some different instruments like strings, things you don't normally hear in pop songs right now and we weren't expecting that it was going to be like the game changing song we just thought it was a little bit of tune and now we're all just kind of looking at each other like, ‘What happened?'”

Jepsen says she plans to release an EP in the fall.
